Nobody is born a musician — I started out as a dancer.
I’ve been playing musical instruments since I was 12. I began with the three-stringed kontra at the Óbuda Folk Music School, studying under Gyuri Lányi.
I taught myself to play the accordion at the age of 15, inspired by the field recording Juhmérés Mérában 2. A lot has happened since then — I’ve played in and with many bands, performed at countless concerts, and recorded on several albums. Just to name a few: Új Élő Népzene and Táncház-Népzene series, Gázsa: “From Budapest to Kommandó”, Csík Band: “Senki nem ért semmit”, Berkó: “Berkó”, Napra: “Jaj a világ!”, and Holdvilágos meg a stb...
I hold a degree in folk music education from the College of Nyíregyháza, with a focus on singing and instrumental folk music, and a master’s degree in folk music from the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, specializing in viola and double bass.
A few of my teaching mottos — things worth knowing if you study with me:
-
“Do, or do not. There is no try.”
-
“There’s no such thing as difficult — only not-yet-practiced.”
-
“If you have a goal, you don’t have excuses.”
-
“Whether you think you can or think you can't — you're right.” (Henry Ford)
Also — I really enjoy a good vice házmester made with rosé (2 parts wine, 3 parts soda).
Currently, I am a member of Méta and Napra.
