Péter Molnár – Double Bass
I was born in 1976 in Tiszafüred. As a schoolchild, I first learned to play the citera, then in the summer of 1991, at a folk camp, I discovered authentic bowed folk music and have played double bass ever since.
At that time, the local music school already had a folk music program led by Ottó Rőmer, who became my first teacher and guide.
Later, I studied with Berci Mohácsy, including at the Méta Camps.
After graduating from the folk music and singing teacher program at Nyíregyháza Teacher Training College, I joined the House of Traditions’ Folklore Documentation Center, where I still work today as head of the Archiving Department.
As a member of Kalász Banda and Tárkány Trio, I perform authentic folk music. I also play bass in world music ensembles with Ági Herczku, Nikola Parov, and Tárkány Művek.
